Job Description:
Under limited supervision, responsible for securing and analyzing quotations and conducting difficult negotiations with all levels of both domestic and international suppliers for the purchase of fixed assets, parts, tooling materials, and/or services.

Sets stocking levels throughout the supply chain to meet market demand while maintaining low inventory levels. Participates in establishing processes to drive pull distribution and manufacturing Evaluates bids, selects and recommends suppliers and negotiates price, quality and service. Expedites the procurement of parts or materials in short or critical supply. Performs market analyses and competitive evaluations. Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over shipments, cancellations and engineering change orders. Oversees and conducts supplier site visits as necessary. Serves as primary interface on quality matters, engineering, and price changes between company components and suppliers. Develops and implements commodity strategies to establish long-term sourcing. May provide direction and training to inventory buyers and planners. Typical annual dollar buy: 100 to 300 million.

Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent and at least 5 years relevant experience.

Has broad expertise including purchasing for lean manufacturing, Kanban and supplier development. May be the in-house expert in specific areas. Requires excellent negotiation abilities and strong analytical skills. Shows exceptional verbal and written communication skills including with executives or in international contexts. Requires knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control. Must have knowledge of economic principles and financial markets. Competent in computerized procurement systems. Requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. May require MS Access experience.

Position will report to directly to Senior Manager of Supply Chain.

Position requires experience with project management and driving cost reductions.
